INTRODUCTION TO

BEND ELKS 1371 RV CLUB

Officers for the 2015 – 2016 Term
Wagon Master: Rich Riddle
Treasurer: Gary Teadtke
Secretary: Patty Eisenman

The RV club was created in 1994; we celebrated our 20 year anniversary in 2014. We currently have 44 wonderful members. We hold one meeting, on the first Thursday of each month, at 11am, at the Elk’s lodge. Unless we’re on an outing, then the meeting is held at the outing. Each member is emailed a copy of the meeting minutes and receives a copy of the treasurer’s report at the monthly meeting.

Each summer, and sometimes into the fall, we go on outings. The location of each outing is decided by the membership in December/January. There are usually 5 – 6 campouts a year. Most of the time our outings are held at Elk’s RV parks but this is not a requirement. Each outing requires a host. New members are encouraged to host along with a senior member to learn the ropes. Any expenses incurred are reimbursed.

During outings we typically have a cocktail party the first night where everyone brings an hors d’oeuvre to share. One night we have a pot luck dinner with each member contributing. Each morning, except for the day of departure, the host provides coffee and some type of breakfast, i.e. donuts, fruit, bagels, etc. If we’re staying at an Elk’s RV park we often go to town and have dinner at the local Elk’s Lodge to show our support. In the evenings, cards and games are played and often there is a campfire. Everyone is on their own during the day and when group meals aren’t held.

In addition to outings, we hold a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and White Elephant Auction at the lodge with the proceeds going to the Elk’s annual Christmas food baskets. In recent years the club has donated at least $1,000 for this event. In December we hold a cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres. Everyone brings an hors d’oeuvre to share as well as an unwrapped toy or gift certificate. These toys go to the annual Christmas toy drive put on by the Ladies of Elks.

Our outings are lots of fun; spending time with those we might not have seen in awhile, sharing meals and what we’ve been up to. Our mission is to create a cohesive group who enjoys each other, respects our differences, avoiding conflicts and supporting each other in the rough times. We share lots of laughter and great food.
