Christmas Baskets

The Bend Elks Christmas Baskets program is one of our major local charity activities of the year.  We work with the efforts of many other groups in Bend, to collect and sort non-perishable food donations. These donations are boxed and distributed to needy families through out the Central Oregon area on Christmas Eve day.  Needy families are identified by various organizations by family size and number of children.

In addition to the food items, the Ladies of the Elks collect toys, clothing and donations to purchase gift items suitable for children’s ages. These gifts are also distributed with the Christmas Food Baskets.

Volunteers from all over Central Oregon arrive early on Christmas Eve morning to complete the food baskets with perishable goods and receive their delivery routes.  Many of these deliveries are made to Madras, Prineville and LaPine as well as locally to Bend and Redmond.

The satisfaction of seeing the joy on the faces of the families receiving the food and gifts, rewards the volunteers for their efforts and keeps them coming back every year.  Last year we assisted over 300 families to have a happy holiday season.
Cash and non-perishable food donations can be made at the Elks Lodge. Please call the office @ 541 389-7438 for more info.
